Pampering the T-3
« on: July 02, 2024, 12:01:08 PM »
Starting tomorrow with Matt (the NM rep), me being his humble assistant and student we are doing the following...
Changing to a Dyna ignition.
Overhaul, clean and set carbs.
R&R the driveshaft boot and check everything in the drive system.
Get the front brake switch to function (never has).
Get to the bottom of the erratic starter button.
R&R rubber parts and hoses as needed.
Possibly valves as I did them not long a go.
Do a general once over of the bike for any other possible needs.

Want to have it ready for it's 50th BD year next year.

Step one, the Dyna ignition completed and new plugs. Some carb adjustment work for now. Will get back for the drive shaft boot and drive train going over in about 10 days. Concerning my starter button and weak headlight issues Matt is recommending that I get a new wiring harness set, dash LED idiot lights etc, through Greg Bender since all is original. That will probably be done this winter. Will still be going in the near future for carb cleaning and overhaul. She ought to be a happy girl when all is done.

Sorta same here with the starter button. I pulled the fuse box loose and tightened the wire clips. Poof, works now.

I think it is fantastic you are treating your old friend to a spa day.
Accentuate the positive;
Eliminate the negative;
Latch on to the affirmative;
Don't mess with Mister In-Between.

By the time all is done it will be more like a week at the spa. But the old girl deserves it. What the hell, it is only money as they say.
