Burpin the 1400?
« on: June 29, 2024, 09:50:33 AM »
Anyone experience having to burp the gas tank on the 1400?
It squeals and hisses until I release the pressure off of it after a ride.
It has been hot here so that may add to it.
Come to think of it, I had a V9 that did this as well.

Anyone else?
Remedies?

Thanks,

It just means the vent is working.

Remedy is to delete the EVAP system and tip over valve. If you go over it will leak fuel. But no more moaning.

How much is involved in that?
Need mapping or other adjustments afterward?
Need to change anything else?
Thanks

Whale moan.

Just open the gas cap.

It’s most likely the vent line from the tank is obstructed. The tank should never build up pressure or creat a vacuum. Having to open the gas cap to burp it proves there’s a kink in the line or an obstruction. Possibly by a faulty one way valve.

Take off tank & follow hoses, look in book. Do a search, plenty of info, been covered. I know it's on the GT forum, canister delete.
Don't have to do much, just take off charcoal canister & reroute hoses. No mapping, nothing.
You have to take 'T' out of the intake hose, replace w/strait or hose connecting both or capped.
