Brake pedal adjustment 2021 V7 E5 850?
« on: June 20, 2021, 11:47:48 AM »
Does anyone know how or if the rear brake pedal lever position can be adjusted on the 2021 V7's?  On my previous '13 and '16 Stones, the brake pedal levers engaged studs to limit the upward travel.  These could be reworked or replaced, or the lever itself altered, to adjust the pedal lever upper limit.  It's not at all clear (to me) how the upward limit to the lever travel is controlled on the new V7's.  Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks, Sam

The pedal o my V7III doesn't seem to be adjustable at all so I dropped it 10mm by adding a length of aluminium bar.
I extended it up about 30mm to guide my toe to the peg.

Nice job, but I'm looking to RAISE the toe peg by about 10mm.  Surely, someone here has figured out how to raise the lever upper limit in these bikes.  From what I can determine, this type of pedal is on the V7III, V7 E5, VT85 and maybe  V9 models.  These levers don't use pinch-clamps on the toe pegs, so the eccentric toe pegs sold by GTM, etc, won't fit.  Thanks again for any advice.

If the peg is the same as the V7 i,ii, and iii-by that I mean a threaded lever that the toe piece treads into, my adapters will work to raise/lower by almost an inch depending on orientation of the adapter.  It's a two minute install on the 750 V7's.

If it truly uses the same set up as the V85TT, then the ones GTM sell do work as I installed a folding peg on the brake lever on mine after bending the original. Perhaps a picture is in order.

Unfortunately, the V85's use the pinch clamp and the V7 850's use the screw-in type toe pegs.

If the screw in is the same as the previous 750 V7's, I have the solution.

THX John.
I made a third and final batch a bit ago.  2 sets left and then it's on to the next thing.  As BigWeld said, "see a need, fill a need."

Bumping this up to see if there has been any new developments for changing the height of the toe piece on the brake lever. I've added LSL round pegs to my '23 v7 850 and find with the reduced diameter compared to stock pegs, the toe is too high. Having to lift my foot over the toe piece before applying. Already had a few moments of muscle memory sliding forward into the toe piece instead of sliding over it. I tend to ride on the balls of my feet and closer to level than downward. I actually find myself resting my heels on the heatshield sometimes. I see many offerings of lowering pegs and wonder what folks are doing with the lever. It doesn't appear to be adjustable like the shift lever.

Picture of new peg style for reference. Yes, Agostini rear sets would solve all my problems....tell my chief financial officer, lol

Fitted babyface rear sets (look it up) fixed the adjustability issue. Improves ergonomics as well.

On an earlier '09 V7, I adjusted the pedal height by cutting the cylinder pushrod, and then adding fender washers to a mounting bolt to push the pedal down to a better position (see photos).  It was surprisingly easy and made a substantial difference.

While this isn't "on point" for your bike, it should help those with the earlier models.

I must take a look at my son's 2009 V7, but adjusting the brake pedal on my V9 is easy. But I did not immediately see how I could adjust the brake light switch, so I just postponed it until I got used to where the brake pedal sit

Here is where you adjust the brake pedal height on the V7 750 2015, and probably other years as well.

And here you see the adjuster for the V7 850, as well as the V9.
