Fer cripe's sake, is it a Norge or a Breva?
« on: October 02, 2024, 03:19:51 PM »
Looking at fork kits @ Hyperpro, the MG model options are Norge 1200 8V (mine's a 2007 4V), Sport 1200, Breva 1100, and Breva 1200, ALL with different kit part #'s.

I'm sure I could ask them "Which one do I need?", but I want to TELL them which one I WANT.

So which model do the '07 Norge forks correspond to? Sheesh.....

OK, I'll ask it a different way: Did the Norge forks evolve from 2007 (2v) on at any point? I mean, are the early (2V) forks the same as the later 8V models, as far as dimensions & internals? Trying to convince myself that the Hyperpro kit for the 8V Norge is the one to get for my early 2V.

I have a 2V 2008 Norge.

When I ordered the kit from Hyperpro the description was exactly as follows:

Hyperpro Progressive Front Fork Spring Kit Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport 2006-2009

I also see on that order that I ordered 15 W oil from them as well to go along with these progressive springs...

If you have any doubts, call EPM Performance Imports, last phone # was 732-786-9777 (from my 2016 email purchase info)

Thanks, the pull-down menus didn't list my bike's year, but the rep sent me a kit # that mafches the year, so I'm good. How did you like the upgrade?

I've had the Hyperpros on the front for 8 years, combined with the Wilbers on the rear, it makes the Norge very nimble...very sporty.  You will definitely enjoy it.  It will eat bumps effortlessly, stays very composed in the corners even with bumps, and makes for very smooth and comfortable long distance touring.

On a related note, I also added a Purple Hyperpro rear spring to the stock shock on my 2015 Griso.  It's a much stiffer spring vs. the stock one that is as effective as a rubber band.  That coupled with a proper sag/rebound setup in full gear, also made the Griso much better than the wallowing water buffalo it was before upgrading.  I haven't done anything on the front, they were just fine.  The Griso, even with its longer wheelbase than the Norge loves to dance in the curves as well, no issues.

I think you'll be very pleased with your new setup...again, I don't know your "riding style" or how much you like to make it dance in the curves, but I would bet $100 bucks you'll be very happy.

I've got a Matris kit on my front fork with 10 wt oil and it makes a tremendous difference from toooo soft oem stock.  I am currently leaning towards a rear shock for next season as the oem shock with aftermarket spring has become useless with any weight other than mine on it and horrible with me alone jarring my spine, no matter the pre load or damping..
