Identifying a Norge rear shock spring?
« on: November 17, 2024, 09:20:55 PM »
I got an instant flat rear tire on the first ride after re-building the front end of my '07 Norge, so I figured I'd do the swingarm bearings while the wheel is off. Can anyone identify or suggest WHERE this spring came from? The PO said the original owner before him "did rear suspension work", and I think it was just a spring swap:

All I can find for King Springs is an auto-spring aftermarket place in AU. But it sure looks like a "King Spring". Notice the destroyed bottom-out bumper.

Since I got it, the bike needed NO rear suspension work that I could tell, spring rate felt spot-on. Front was as soft and dive-y as everyone reports, so while it was down for the front end rebuild I put in a Hyperpro spring kit, seemed to solve THAT problem. I'd just like to know what king of spring I have in the rear.

I doubt that is a stock spring. Not super familiar with brands and colors, but IIRC Ohlin uses yellow? Can you pull the stock # off?

I'm getting excited about collecting my Norge..............

I'm positive it's not a stock spring. No P/N that I can see other than what's visible. I can live not knowing what it is, the bike's rear suspension is great. I just hate not knowing. What year Norge are you "collecting"?

It's a Pearl White 2012, buying from a friend, is rollerized, and was one of my best riding buddies brothers bike originally (I'm buying from 2nd owner). Was rollerized at a reliable shop EARLY on and has 40K+ miles since rollerization.

I had a 2014 Rootbeer Brown, and foolishly traded it on an MGX-21, have regretted that decision since 2018, and happy to once again have what is IMNSHO one of the best all around long distance road bikes. Can't wait.  I'll be selling a couple bikes in the Spring, need to thin the herd a bit.

Wind on a bit of pre load to keep it away from the bump stop.
