V7ii exhaust hanger measurement?
« on: January 07, 2025, 09:56:18 PM »
Hi All,
I'm trying to fit a stock exhaust back onto my daughter's V7ii Stone (not the Racer or Stornello).  I have all the parts except the triangle shaped hangers on the mufflers (#13/14).  They are part numbers 883297 and 883298 on page 31 of the parts fiche (that I'm looking at on Cadre cycle's website).
They look like plain, flat triangles, so I can easily make them but I do not have the dimensions.  I can get center-to-center on the muffler from the muffler.  Could some one measure the distance from a muffler bolt to the top (frame) hanger?  Front or rear muffler hole- doesn't matter as it looks like an isosceles.
The bike is a 2016, but it is the same part number on V7's from 2012-2014 (presumably 2015 as well).
Thanks!

There is a slight bend in them try making a few templates from cardboard. It’s too bloody cold for me to work in the shed & make accurate measurements, sorry !

Yeah that bend shouldn't be too hard to replicate. I think it's to clear the muffler body.

Here are the measurements I got of the sides of the bracket:

4" (102 mm) x 3 5/16" (84 mm) x 2 10/16" (68 mm).

Here are the bolt holes center-to-center along the same corresponding runs:

3 6/16" (85 mm) x 2 1/2" (64 mm) x 1 3/4" (46 mm)

Keep in mind the ends are rounded so there's some slight variance in measuring points depending on where exactly you align the ruler though hopefully my bolt hole measurements are better.

PM me with a phone number or email if you would like photos to accompany it. I have one off my 2013 that was in my box of OEM parts.

Thanks, Kev!  I'll give it a try and if I run into any problems, I'll send you a PM.

Turns out that none of parts I got were actually stock, so I winged it.  Made some templates from an old license plate, then made some parts from mild steel.  It took forever for the paint to dry because the basement is cold. The mufflers are from a V7iii, not a V7ii so the measurements I requested on here (thanks again) are useless. They were advertised as V7ii silencers. No worries- it was pretty easy to fab up.

Initially, the left-hand hanger interfered with the swingarm with the bend that I used, so I had to adjust it a little- that's as hard as it got. And as it stands now- It seems pretty decent- I haven't tightened everything up yet and fired it up. I'm amused by the fact that the headers are Agostini 'racing headers', lol. They were actually pretty cheap! Thanks Cadre Cycle and Ebay. The mufflers still have the catalytic converters in them...so...I've no idea how it will sound. I am not discounting the possibility of going full Ago in the future.

Interesting. I've heard people wonder if the headers/mufflers from the MkI - I models were compatible with the MkIII (because the III are double walled or such, and the motor mounting angle was different etc).

I wonder what this tells us about that?

Not much at this point-  I got both headers and pipes from Cadre via Ebay in different listings.  I guess I could call and ask what bike they actually came off of, and my guess would be two different bikes.  I mean, what kind of idiot (me) puts "racing" headers and restricted mufflers on a bike?
In any case, the headers look to fit in the exhaust ports straight, so I suspect they will seal up fine.
One nice thing about the headers is that they do not use those awful collars- the flange that bolts to the head pulls the pipe in.  Much cleaner solution.

OK, just called them.  Apparently the parts all came with the same bike (a V7ii), but the previous owner had exchanged mufflers on it.  So again- who knows where the mufflers actually came from because they were traded in from a box.   If it were easy, anyone could do it, right?
The fellow I talked to on the phone was really nice and quite helpful.
