750 Breva 1979 V50 Hybrid...
«

I have another thread about tyres/swingarms/wheels etc. on the forum but it was suggested that I reach out to 750 Breva owners who might be able to answer a query.
Are the u-joints the same on my 1979 V50 as those on a 750 Breva allowing a Breva 750 swingarm to be attached to the V50?
Many thanks.

Pretty certain that the splines are different....but they altered between the V50/2 and the 3 I think;certainly on the Monza and 650 series.Possible that they were altered after that too.

If you only swap the motor is the only way.

So, the complete engine, gearbox and swingarm/final drive would be required, which I believe is not just a straight swap?
Thanks.

I don't believe you need the motor swap but you do need everything from the flywheel backwards. The transmission output (and possibly input) splines are different.
While this is being discussed, I 'think' the newer transmission will bolt into the engine and frame without too much difficulty but I don't know it. Is this actually a known possible thing? Either with a breva or even one of the later small blocks with great 6 speed transmissions?
Thanks and sorry about the minor thread hijack (if this even gets a response).

You need to explain which parts from what models you are mixing.

What’s the end goal? Fitting a wider rear tire?

It's on an already highly modified bike. The main things I'm looking for out of this are a stronger clutch and better transmission. I know I'll need the driveshaft and swingarm from whatever I end up using.
I started a chart to try to figure out the best gearing ratios between all the different transmissions and there are so many variables I figured I ought to find out if the cases can even bolt together and fit in my frame first.

I have a 750 Nevada gearbox (5 speed) and that WILL FIT on both my V50-3 engine & two V65 engines that I have.....between gearbox & V50 engine, it just needs the V65 clutch plate as the spline count on the V50-3 engine output shaft is different. Not sure what year as I got it as a bucket of 'cafe racer project bits' from Gutsibits but the wire wheels were also Nevada & around 2001 vintage AFAIK. A trawl through the parts manuals should help & I've used Gutsibits site as a rough compatability checker since they generally list what fits what.

There is a guy who is still listed, steamdriven NZ, who had a creation he called the Monzada. I would suggest you try a p.m. and see if he responds. Namedrop Muzz, it may help.
It took him two years to insert a Neavada engine in to the Monza frame., and he is no slouch. However, his aim was to make it as though it was original. It was not a straight swap. He would be able to help I am sure.
