Too Many Rings 850 T3
« on: March 27, 2025, 06:04:03 AM »
So the Deves MC-132 ring set showed up today.

It is labeled for 850 T3.

There are FOUR rings (for each cylinder) in the package.

#1 is labeled Compression
#2 is labeled Compression & oil control
#3 is labeled Oil Scraper
#4 is labeled Oil Control (It has 4 parts!)

Ghilardoni piston has 3 ring grooves.

I assume I install #1 in top groove, throw away #2 of the set, install #3 in middle groove, then have fun installing #4 on groove 3?

New one for me, HELP!

The Deves rings sets are meant for the original (Mondial?) pistons, not the pistons supplied with Gilardoni kits.

If the Deves rings are the correct thicknesses for the Gilardoni pistons, I would install #1 in the top groove, discard #2, install #3 in the middle groove, and #4 in the bottom groove.

Devout Guzzistas have been known to get their ears pierced and wear the extra rings, as a form of boasting about their improved engines.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Isn’t that just in Australia?

No, I've heard of this phenomenon in Nebraska as well.

Yes indeed, I believe I read about this phenomenon in National Geographic Magazine when I was in grade school.

I am guessing that when you were perusing National Geographic in grade school you weren't looking at ear rings.
