Difference in UpMap tunes
« on: March 12, 2025, 10:04:36 AM »
Wondering if anyone has used both the dbkiller in and the dbkiller removed tunes on the UpMap and what differences you saw.
Back story. I put Agostini shorties on my '23 Special last year last year. Ran it stock for a short while and it ran ok. I also did the SAS delete and a DNA filter. Tried pulling the dbkillers and it ran horrible on stock tune, I didn't even leave driveway before I put back in. Bought the UpMap and chose the dbkiller in map. Love the  way it runs now. Last week I pulled the dbkillers to see how it ran and how it sounds. Runs good, maybe just a bit of hesitancy but that may be me. LOVE the sound so plan on leaving them out.
My question is, it the "dbkillers removed" tune worth the $120 or should I just stick with the tune I have?

Did you reset the ECU when you removed the dB killers so that it could relearn?

Lambda probes, learning, it is deactivated with reprogramming

I bought a '23 V7 Special Edition, and had the dealer install a set of Ago full-length reverse cone mufflers, dB killers removed, airbox lid elimination kit, and the corresponding UPMAP tune.  The bike was delivered this way, so can't compare it to stock, and I didn't put the dB killers back in to experiment.  Bike runs great, can't complain.  For comparison, on my '24 V100 Navale, I put on the Ago big bore exhaust / Y-pipe and a Mistral muffler.  There is definitely a difference with how it sounds and drives with the dB killers in and out.  On this bike, I kept the dB killers in.  Don't have the UPMAP tune yet on the V100, but it's on the list.

In my opinion, it is worth spending the money to have both tunes available! It's not like you will lose the dbkiller tune, you're merely adding to your library of files.

I bought both maps and have used both for the agostinis installed on my ‘21 stone. The “novelty” of the db killers removed wore off and I decided the engine sounds better with the db killers installed, even if it is quieter. I never tried running on the db killer map with the db killers removed. I will say both configurations/maps run well.

I have the full length Agostini's and flashed the Upmap with DB's in Map. Bike runs some much better than stock, Night and day difference!
I then got curious to see what it would sound like without db's, wow! sounds even better. But it did not pull as hard with the db in map, so I downloaded the db out map and she runs awesome! Honestly, I just love the sound of this little twin, rolling on the throttle is perfection to me. It is loud but I do wear ear plugs and full-face helmet, so it all is good.

Awesome, exactly the feedback I was looking for.

Of course now my phone decided to stop connecting to my UpMap so we will see what they have to say about that before moving on

Make sure you updated the Upmap app before flashing, takes a minute or two. That may be the reason it didn’t go through.

Yep, it was the app. I was at the latest level but a suggestion from their support that I delete and re-install the app solved the issue. When I told my partner she just rolled her eyes at me and said "That's what you would have told me to do"  :violent1:

I just installed the full length Agostinis with db killers in and used that flash and also found it to be a really nice setup. At first I was wondering where the heck the db killers were, they blend in very well with the matte paint where only the snap ring gave them away. Often there's a screw that holds silencers in instead so I wasn't expecting that. I have some concern with the UpMap tune with it now being fully open loop as I sometimes ride between dramatically different temperatures and elevations in a day (Colorado Rockies), but I don't expect it could be any worse than doing the same on a carb'd bike. At highway speed I can't hear the pipes over the wind with full face helmet on, hearing protection in, and the MG touring windscreen - I think that's the perfect level of sound for me and would likely be annoyed if I removed the db killers. Even with the db killers in, it's very much a straight through exhaust! I've had other bikes with various aftermarket exhausts and typically can't see right through them like a glasspack lol. I had to use the UpMap app on an older phone that I have retired to offline map use (Samsung Galaxy S10e) as it said it wasn't compatible with my newer Google Pixel 8.
