My first car at 16yrs old. A new Super Bee. I could only afford the basic 383 4 speed version, a little less than 3k out the door. A few mods like headers, cam and 850 Holley duel pumper, put it at the 400hp range.
I was definitely a Mom and Pop nightmare.

I bought a 68 Coronet Super B in ‘72. Black with a white stripe, 383 automatic. It was fun bone stock, reasonably fast,I liked the triangle tail lights . I sold it and it got totaled out when a drunk parked on top of it as it was sitting in a bar parking lot. 400 hp would have been about right!

Yea in 69 the 383 was the magnum, bumped up to 335hp from the previous 325hp model.

I kinda made the list at #10. I once bought a Charger 500 glider, ie, no engine or trans. I was told the PO had taken the 440 and trans out for his Anglia drag car. I had both of those which I put back in. Unfortunately the VIN showed that it was originally a 318 car. I owed the IRS due to the 80's recession and had to sell it. The best I have now is my wife's 6.4 Hemi Grand Wagoneer. Got the payment too so she can't retire until it is paid for.

Mine must have been a late 68, it had Magnum 383. One of the reasons I sold it was I didn’t have a place for it in the winter and the salted roads would have killed it.

It’s been so many years John that I could be a year off when the 383 mag came out. It may have been 1968.
I am sure the 325hp were blue and the new mag 335hp were orange.
I am sure the 1967s were the 325hp, blue motors because best buddy pal had a 67 Coronett.

Mine was blue, 383 Magnum was printed on the air cleaner and it had the exhaust manifolds that were up instead of down like a regular 383. As you said it was a long time ago…

Nice! The GTX was a great 60s muscle car.
I’ve got a buddy that bought his new in 1967 and he was drafted a few months later. He covered the car and left it  in his dad’s basement. After his service 4 years later he decided not to continue to drive the car. It’s in a climate control garage now covered up. The car has only 4k miles. He lets people come and check things out when they are restoring a 67 GTX. He has turned 1/2 mil+ numerous times.

For a short while I had a 70 Dodge Dart Swinger with the 340 package. It was a bare bones beast. Sold it because of being a poor college student and the gas mileage was killing me. Also was afraid I would break something I couldn't afford to fix. Did get to drive a 70 Superbird with a warmed over 440 about 40 Miles. Another beast.
