Windshieldless on the EV, anyone else?

The fairing is still on my 04 EV Touring but I took off the windshield
It honestly feels better “naked”

Anyone else experience this on an EV or Caiifornia?

Love the fairing and shield!!!!!! But, I have a taller though cut down Clearview.

Not an EV but I removed the shield on my Mandello. Much better nice clean air.

I have a clearview on my EV.  I like it more than the stock one that was on it because of its height.

I also run a Clearview and look through it. Modern shields are no longer distorted, they are like looking through your car windshield. Bottom line no windshield, no ride.
Personally I don’t want or enjoy wind and the elements beating my face and upper body as it promotes unnecessary fatigue and misery on longer rides or in inclement weather.
However, each to his own. Enjoy what you ride and ride what you enjoy.

I ran without a windshield for a few years. I had tried the Guzzi “Police” windshield and immediately took it off due to all the buffeting. The problem is it mounts way too far forward from you. Later went with a National Cycle Flyscreen. It was enough to keep the wind off my chest and helmet in clean air.

I think less (windshield) is more (quiet).

I've seen a few of them cut down to like 9-inches.

I have a V7III & T140V for when I want to go windshieldless. The EV is the first full barn door bike I have had, I also added an extender to the top. Its  good so far, getting more dings and scratches as time goes on.

my CalVin handles beautifully without a windshield.  However, I prefer wind, and weather, deflection at speeds exceeding 50mph.  Particularly while touring.  My bare minimum on any highway bike is a low "sport" shield to keep the wind off my chest.

The only shield that ever worked on the EV was the Swannee. JMHO

The Mandello without the windshield breaks the wind at chest level but leaves my head in clean air. I couldn't get rid of the turbulence even with a taller windshield. Some of it came from around the sides. I have experimented with different shields on several bikes with no love. The Mandello wasn't bad but not great. The best position was halfway up which I thing was because in that position the gap below the shield was at it's largest. The mechanism works in an elliptical manner. The only shield that worked for me was an Avon full fairing on my R75/5. Completely still air behind it, in fact a slight pressure on my back. I took it off when I moved to Cali, too hot.

21" (It was a little high, so I cut it down about 1" or so. If you know for sure the height you want, they will cut it.)
1" wider
Went with light gray since it looks good on the bike and is clear enough at night to see close in front of you. I DO look over the shield.

Call and ask about blems. You had to nit pick to call the one I got a blem.

Swannee on the EV = zero wind buffeting at up to 100mph. Tested over 100,000 miles. Man you'd could smoke a cigar back there!!!

These days I actually prefer no screen and a great big tank bag to keep wind blast down to a minimum.

I took off my 98 EV touring shield 20 years ago. The heat/humidity in south Florida makes your brain boil. Put on the Guzzi small sport shield and never looked back. It works well up to 75 and that's good enough for me.

If you want to look through the windshield so the air goes over your head get the tallest one available

No fairing on the 98 EV. The big shield has been collecting dust in the attic.

Trying hard to keep my 98EV.
Got an extra seat that is lower than what Rich Maund did. Feet are almost flat when stopped now.
Took off the Swanee fairing and top box. It feels like an entirely different bike.
Those mega mile days are behind me.
Kinda excited, which is somewhat dangerous at my age!!

I am 5'11" and went with their taller option.  The stock shield put the wind right at my nose which made my neck ache after an hour.  The taller option put the wind just over my helmet and I can now cruise for 4 hours with no neck pain.  My seat was not stock when I did the swap and I was sitting 2" higher than I do now so I could go lower.
