09 Stelvio and longevity

Hello, I am looking at a 2009 Stelvio, and of course current owner has no idea of it's been rollerized or not. It's a dealer, and they don't want to hassle with pulling a valve cover. Bike has 49,000 miles. Would a flat tappet have made it to 49,000 miles without anything being done to the tappets and cams? And if it had been rollerized, the bottom end must be ok. Any thoughts? Roll the dice? 😁

A good A5 motor will go 200Kmi easily. You may have to change a few things on the way, all wear items. 50Kmi is stretching it for a flatty.
Lift the rocker cover & look or ask for a photo of it. Good Luck

As Steve said, 49K is high for a non rollerized cycle. I'd try to find the PO, ask the dealer for the guys name, and for documentation on WHEN it was done if at all. You should be able to take the VIN to a Guzzi dealer and they can check to see if it was rollerized under the Guzzi program. If you are serious about the bike, maybe ask the dealer if they are unwilling to pull the valve cover and check that they let you do it.

I had 55,000 on my ‘09 when a deer killed it. I hadn’t heard of the flat tappet issue at the time but it ran perfectly as far as I could tell.
