Aux/fog lights on tonti
« on: August 29, 2025, 05:45:50 PM »
Moto, on this board, very kindly gave me a pair of nice LED auxiliary/fog lights for my T3. He has similar lights mounted on his T3, under the headlight with a clever homemade bracket.

I was hoping that others on the board might be able to share their strategies for mounting aux lights on their Tonti-frame bikes so that I can think through the possibilities. I have the "civilian" crash bars, but they don't seem adequate, either because of angle/height that the lights would be mounted at, or because they would be close to the exhaust port, which I don't want to obstruct. And I have the "tall" police-style windscreen on, as sold my mgcycle. my turn signals are mounted on a bar, also sold by mgcycle, on the bottom fork cross-brace.

Thoughts appreciated. And a shout out to Moto for his generosity and deep experience with these old bikes.

I used a pair of clamps from Harpers that they use to mound their fairing.  A long threaded rod filled up with stainless steel nuts to make it larger diameter (probably not necessary).  It looks like this.

On the bottom triple tree in front is where the brake fitting for front brake is, this is perfect place to mount bracket w/brake piece on top.

I'd be concerned that lights mounted too close to the turn indicators.  Could wash out the signal to approaching drivers.

King of Fleece- Doesn't seem to.  I have them connected like the aux driving lights on autos are supposed to be.  They are only on while driving on high beam headlight, whenever I go to low beam they go off.  That way no one coming toward me is not blinded like so many of todays super bright LED headlights do.
