🥶good weather for detailing
« on: January 24, 2026, 09:13:36 AM »
Looks like the majority of us will not be doing much outside the next few days. I just told KBallowe it’s a good time to gather up some old tooth brushes, Qtips, smoking pipe cleaners and do some fine detaining in his herd.
What are you guys planning to do with your bikes the next several days??
Anyway, stay warm and dress in layers if going out!

One of the bikes is on the lift, garage heater has gotten temps up to t-shirt and shorts temperature and I have a set of dual color LED's that I might start working in installing but the beer fridge died yesterday so I might spend the better portion of the day cleaning it out 16 ounces at a time while listening to the radio and waiting for the snow to fall.

Sounds like you’ve got a grip on this situation, P14.
Enjoy the time well spent with your herd👍

It's 4 degrees and snowing.  Cleaning stuff sounds like a good idea.

And, not to forget the full service.

lol- We’re finally sorting out my office (contents are now in living room…) and sun porch/pantry after years of neglect…

No matter, getting ready this time was pretty easy because the generator et al were still all recently resolved after Hurricane Helene barely a year ago.  Generators & Kerosene heaters are ready to go for my mother and us.

Today I did a 22+lb turkey and 2 loaves of sourdough this afternoon to have easy leftovers.  If the power goes out and I can’t carve (no compressor), I might spend some time on my 427 Galaxie project after we get everything done in the house. The CX100 is calling but I need to get the Galaxie out so I can do bike stuff….

Stay warm, y’all!

It's time to ride the Ural!

Used to love taking the DR650 rig out when it snowed. Used to hate all the rust an corrosion that developed from all the "road treatment" after the bike thawed out.

It's still chilly here.  4F this morning.

Ya can only clean so much.  We got 8-10" of that fluffy snow and so I got out with the leaf blower and cleaned off the driveways and sidewalks.  Then the wind kicked up and it's all back.  I think I'll just stay in and watch old movies.

It’s 16 here in central NC and sleet/freezing rain mix.
I keep the ole wood stove full and mostly wide open all night and it managed to keep our 2000sqr ft house at 60 degrees, which is good sleeping under a feather tic.
Of course upped the heat pump after getting up to get the temp up to around 68 where we normally keep it.

Ural gets me around through the winter.

But... I just received my marvelous box of spaghetti from Greg Bender. The T3 is getting a completely new wiring this winter. Guess some of the normally inaccessible spots will be cleaned during the remove/replace and rewiring. I see a lot of clean bikes at group meet-ups. None are mine. Bikes get so dirty the minute I ride them in weather. Seems counterproductive to invest 8 hours in a cleanup that disappears in 45 minutes. On the other hand I spent two days fussing over a used Lester wheel to make it right to my specifications. Did it again on the other wheel. They were dirty soon after installation but they were tubeless, air tight,  ran true and had properly spaced premium bearings in all positions

I was thinking of doing the same thing on my T3. However I am using quite a few non Guzzi electrical components to replace all the missing or hacked originals so creating my own using the main part of the original.

I've also got a few things extra going on like GPS, heated grips and a voltmeter. When I purchased the harness I requested an additional wire to support those devices. No problem requesting custom additions to his harnesses. Each one is made to customer specifications. Takes about a week. Can't ask for more. But yet Greg also offers installation support. So you get more than you asked.
