Ireland was pretty good - V7 850 Sport

Just over a week ago I came back from a trip of round about 1000 miles (maybe a few more) from South West England to North West Ireland and back. The V7 Sport performed perfectly, a great companion for the trip. Particularly enjoyed riding through Wales on the way there and the way back, and riding some of the Wild Atlantic Way, in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, the hills of Sligo. Non motorcycle highlights included a pint of the black stuff in Ellens Bar, visit to the Folk Museum, some great meals courtesy of my friends Steve and Jaqui, and me reciting poetry in a cafe in Kiltimagh! (no banjo was available). I will be posting up a few pics later.

One lasting impression? The smell of the burning peat turf all over the West.

Just takes a few days to get used to the transition.  Easier on a motorcycle than a car, IMHO.

And vice versa, though intersections etc. need some extra thought/attention.

[ Tried to take my car for a spin from Limerick (where I worked for a while) to Cork - exhaust fell off half way there.  The "rocky road" from Belfast, via Dublin likely didn't help. That was decades ago though. ]

Left side of the road isn't so bad, it's all the clockwise roundabouts (and mini roundabouts) that will drive you crazy.

Roundabouts in Sicily were confusing enough and you ride on the right.I figure I forget one time and the party’s over.

Anti-clockwise roundabouts always get me, when habit/muscle memory is so used to the opposite.

Ah yes DG the rocky roads! The farmers were on strike on the day I arrived and blocking the motorways on the day I arrived so i had to take the back roads which was no bad thing, from Mullingar to Charlestown. The road would go straight for miles, then a bend, then straight for miles.... It did as you say go up and down a lot.  Apparently this is due to them all being built on peat bogs, and there is always movement.
