Congrats! The stornello is one of my all-time favorite motorcycles..

Hard to tell from the pictures on my phone, but those look to be the OEM rear shocks? If so you must either weigh 130 lb, Ride on glass smooth roads, have a spine made of steel, Or just love abuse   .

I found the stock suspension on the v7ii to be completely unusable for anything other than the smoothest of roads. Changing out the fork springs and rear shocks made all the difference in the world for me.

I would guess it all balances out.. 2000 miles on mine before the crank decided it liked more room to breath..
I happened to really like the little bike, but traded it for a Rotax twin that are known to extremely long life.
I would buy a higher mile 16 over a lower mile unit. I would also pull the starter on any 16, and measure
the crank thrust .

Was this on a Stornello? Or just a V7ii?

I've not heard of a Stornello that had this problem. I'm not worried about it for myself (13k miles), but there are still a few guys out there with super low mileage Stornellos.

The best thing about my Stornello is I found a 2016 V-ii engine for around a grand .. It had 4000 miles and  Perfect thrust measurements.. I contacted Moto Guzzi, and they tried to help. Just the Dealership in Portland, had no idea how to really measure the thrust issues. I gave up, and traded my bike, and extra engine to my friend for his 2015 BMW F-800R.(Rotax) I had a Moto-2 765 Daytona at the time. Both rock solid in about everyway Right now, just two bikes, but no Guzzi's I like them, but when people on this website say there might be a problem with a model/engine. best listen to them..
