New V7 III Special owner, paint code confirmation + speedo reading low

Hello fellow Guzzi fans,

Last week I bought my first-ever Moto Guzzi: a V7 III Special (Euro4) in the light blue scheme with orange stripes. Fell in love with it instantly and my heart sank when I had my first-ever "accident" a few days later...

I lost the front on a gravel turn at walking pace (10–15 km/h tops) and dropped it on the left side. I got away super lucky, the damage is mostly cosmetic:

• Broken left footpeg
• Scratched aluminium plate on the spark plug cover
• Minor paint chips on the left side
• A small crack in the speedometer outer holder casing

I had a few questions i wanted to ask:

• Paint: I want to touch up the chips. From what I've found, the color should be Blu Zaffiro Métallisée, paint code K117, can anyone with a blue Special confirm that's the correct code or what else works? And does anyone know what the orange and silver stripe colors are, or are those stripes decals rather than paint? Ive been going throughh each forum here but still wanted to ask
• Footpeg: The OEM replacement peg is surprisingly pricey. I've read that older Honda CB footpegs fit the V7 II straight on, does that hold for the V7 III as well? If anyone's done the swap, which CB generations pegs did you use?
• Cylinder guards: After this experience I'm thinking about adding some protection for the exposed cylinder heads, they feel very vulnerable now. First image shows the scratch my spark plug cover casing picked up in the drop; second image shows the guards I'm looking at:
  
  Does anyone have experience with these (or crash bars in general on the V7 III)? Do they actually save the heads in a low-side like mine?
  My hesitation: crash bars look super bulky on this bike (the cleanest ones i found are these from sw-motech)
  
   and frame sliders feel expensive for something whose whole philosophy is being a replaceable sacrificial part...
• Speedometer (the most important one): Since the drop I have the feeling the speedo reads about 10 km/h too low. The outer holder casing has a small crack but the instrument itself looks fine... could a knocked-out-of-alignment mount or housing affect the reading at all, or should I be looking at the sensor/wiring instead? Has anyone experience with this?

Look on feeBay, for used parts, such as spark plug cover and footpeg.
Look on Aliexpress, for cheap crash bar alternatives, though the one you show is the best visual/function ratio, to my eyes. Here's a pic of my cheapo ones..

I've seen a used lower speedo housing on feeBay recently. (With a little care and surface wetting, once in place you could form a repair with black Milliput.) Try removing the housing and re-seating the connector - it *may* have become slightly dislodged. Check the rear ABS/speedo sensor at the swingarm area hasn't received a wee knock.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out the cracked housing was a red herring, the fall had knocked the needle itself out of alignment, so it was sitting offset from its rest position and reading -10 km/h low across the board. Opening the cluster, reseating the needle, and closing it back up was pretty tedious, but it reads correctly again now. Still can't believe how lucky I got with this drop overall.

MG has never listed a paint code anywhere for anything.  I don't know where you found that # but it's worth checking out. If not a paint shop can get very close with their computer match. I'd look for the Guzzi or Hepco Becker crash bars.
On the 2017 V7III and up the 2012+ Goldwing pegs fit. Aftermarket ones are about $30 a set. You just need to lengthen the spring with an old spark plug end or a hollow tube or a 12vt wire connector. They are bigger and 10 MM lower.

Amazing thanks! I was scouring the web and found a few french aftermarket paint shops that had the same codes listed, thats why i thought maybe they are on to something with K117...
