Yeah, I don't think those ever came on those bikes from the factory.

Also, I read somewhere these fairings were redesigned (maybe with the advent of what's referred to as the SP NT or maybe even the square engines) so they were wider or spaced out from the bike more.

The lowers look like a couple of parachutes designed to slow the bike down.
Are they there to protect the rider's legs from the cylinders?

They give very good weather protection.

The great thing about those lowers was the bruises you get on the inside of the knees

Not a fan of the SP lowers on the bike. The only time I ever sat on an SP I couldnt fit my legs behind the lowers, the appearance is odd to me as well. I do understand they give good coverage though, just not if you are over a certain height.

I actually run my LM III without the small stock lowers so I'm probably in the minority here anyway as far as LM III appearance.

Really beautiful bike though and it's the right color too.

The bike is listed in Sacramento Craigs list http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/mcd/5158445462.html and it looks like a lovely LM3. If I wasn't overpopulated with bikes I'd go  have a look

Looks like list members and those with access to the MGNOC classifieds get a $13 dollar discount compared to the poor stiffs who shop Craigslist. Act now to lock in your savings.

Do they protect against bad weather as well ?
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

I also run without my lowers.  They've been sitting in a box down my basement for years.

Dirty Dogs!  It was fine when a nice bike like this was on the other side of the US and my lust couldn't get me there easily.

Now it's in my back yard.  I was only 1/2 mile or so from it yesterday and I've always liked white.

I wonder if I can handle the clip-ons again.  It's only been 35+ years since I last had them and they're actually above the seat elevation as opposed to my road bicycle's drops.

Yep. Guzzi had a wind tunnel and knew how to use it. At least my SP had wonderful wx protection, and I'm *assuming* these are the same.

I visited the bike today and I believe so.  The fellas in the scooter shop that has it on consignment mentioned the owner had ridden it up and back from Alaska a few times.

The photography is "creative" as the condition of the plastic is much rougher than shown by the pics.

Still the price is not-Cycle Garden because it includes, sales tax & license of about a thousand in California.

The Mk111 has handlebars, not clip-ons, and they're a little more aggressive than my Griso but narrower.  Pegs are a probably like Griso stock pegs.

And because it's not $512 million dollars with bidding getting jacked up in the last 5 minutes...
