2013 V7 Special and OEM windshield issues
« on: February 24, 2015, 02:39:57 PM »
Howdy,

Looked through some of the threads, but didn't find my answer.  I used to ride a 2007 Norge and was quite used to using my bluetooth communicator with it and modular helmet.  I downsized to the V7 Special with an OEM windshield and a new Schuberth helmet.  I couldn't figure out why I couldn't hear anyone (I have always used ear plugs) until I decided to ride without the ear plugs one day.  It sounded like I was in a Hollywood wind machine and it became immediately obvious why I couldn't hear my radio, phone calls or communication with riding buddies.  Anyone have an idea of a fix (besides not trying to hear my communicator)?  I have looked at this product on line, but don't really know if it will take care of this issue: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/mra-x-creen-add-on-variable-windscreen-spoiler-blade-bolt-on-10848.

Thanks in advance!

I tried that on my Stelvio...hated it.  Others seem to think it's great.  I guess it's just a matter of exactly how your head placement is relative to the windscreen and air flow.  FWIW, I had a new windscreen made by Gustoffson in FL.  The new screen is 2" taller and I like it much better.  It's still not super quiet but I have much more weather protection.

watch out for the audio when you first get to the web site...it's too loud

The OEM  screen on the V7 puts the wind right at the visor. I ended up removing it. A chap I know cut his down a lot closer to the instruments so that the wind hits lower down & he was happy with that.

I have an adjustable MRA screen added to my Honda Transalp and I think it's great. Other people prefer no screen, or shorter screens, it depends on lots of factors, your height, your helmet, if you wear earplugs, etc etc

I have an V7 classic with the OEM screen and have this fitted to it

its not very big, but very adjustable, and you can different bits of perspex/screen into it, as its just a regular allen key clamp.
