Trading Guzzis
« on: April 17, 2015, 05:43:46 PM »
Have had my 02 Cal EV for about 5 years and has done nothing but run good. Had a brain tumor removed a year ago and as a result lost hearing in my left ear and the balance nerve in my left ear was removed. Balance issues are only a problem when I'm tired. Probably no all day rides in my summer plans. Via craigslis ts a person not far away is looking to sell or trade an 08 Breva 750. My EV has 50k on the odo the Breva just 12k.

Just want to get any thoughts on this.

you'd both probably have a hard time finding a buyer so yes, do the deal.. maybe ad $500-1000 or so for the Breva?

I think his goal is to find a lighter bike that's easier to hold up when he's tired. I'm sure the Breva is that. What about a sidecar or trike kit?

I have a friend with balance issues.  We've discussed this option for him.  You might think of using the money and adding a side car or trike kit.

The Breva is considerably lighter but I don't know how that equates to your balance issue.  My wife and I owned a lot of sidecar rigs over a 30 year period (she didn't want to ride solo) and a well set up rig can bring a smile to the most ardent of solo-bike riders.  A bad one can bring on cursing fits.
I've owned two V7 engined MG's and I really like the small block and the light weight.  Depending on how well the Breva has been maintained and equipped (bags, etc), it could be worth as much as $5k or as little as $3k to a retail buyer.
NO longer can ride

You might consider a sidecar. The EV makes a nice tug.

Balance is definitely not to the point of not being able to ride or requiring a sidecar. Just maybe better suited to something lighter. Of course today I saw a Norge at the service for l
Larry Klein and I was thinking how that would be a great bike

Handsome rig. Ever consider some wind protection? Also you should also either disconnect (if they're not)--or better remove--the right-hand turn signals that are on the tug. Otherwise you'll be sending out some confusing signals.
