No Left Turn Signal
« on: May 01, 2015, 11:24:37 AM »
I just got back from getting my 07 Breva 11 inspected. The bike passed, but as I made my way to work, I noticed that the left turn signal had quit (right still works fine). Odd, because I'm sure that for the inspection it had functioned properly.
When I get it home tonight, what should I look for?
Thanks- Jim

A little off topic but my middle brother has a 1959 Chevrolet pick up truck that he purchased new in 1959.  Over the years the truck has lost it's ability to turn left.   These days when Marshall drives the truck he plans a route for right turns only.  Has worked for him quite a few years now.  Something to think about.

A replacement bulb?
I guess I wasn't clear. There's nothing going on- there's no left signal(s) working- and nothing on the dash to indicate the signal is flashing. Would a blown bulb cancel everything on that side plus the dash?
I suppose it's possible...
I'll check when I get home.
Thanks.

On your Breva the flashing is a function of the dash (it doesn't have a simple flasher relay) the L/R switch goes into the dash and each of the 4 lamps are wired to it with a dedicated wire.

I have no idea what happens if a lamp goes out, I would expect it to give some sort of indication.
We need another Breva or Norge owner to pipe up.

"Something to think about?"  :o      Not me; this would be something to not drive under any circumstances.

It might be possible the contacts for left turn in the handlebar switch are blocked, corroded, or something. Let's hope it's not the dash.  You should be able to meter the wires where the switch cable attaches to the harness.
