Clutch push rod seals for 8V
« on: May 02, 2015, 01:49:07 AM »
I am replacing the clutch push rod seals for a Stelvio.

What is the correct orientation of the two conical seal and placement along the rod?

I read somewhere the wider end of the conical seal is installed facing the engine/front side, what about the placement of these two seals along the rod? Do I place them both near to the slave cylinder end of the flywheel end or space them equally along the rod? The guzzi shop manual doesn't has a word on this.

Thank you in advance.

I place them on the front of the rod, grease them w/o-ring lube, when slid in they will stop @ the step inside the shaft and be placed correctly.

Thanks for the reply Steve, that sounds logical.

One more question, do you insert the push rod from the clutch slave cylinder end or otherwise?

I always slide the pushrod in from the back. While it is a question that vexes people in all honesty I don't think it matters which way the cone seals go in on the rod. The pictures always show them with the wider end forward. I've always installed them the other way round. It doesn't seem to make a jot of difference! :D

Logically, the wider end should be facing where the fluid is coming from.
