Other than the addition of a second disc and caliper, it looks like a stock disc Loop front end.

Disc brakes on a '72 Eldo?  Wasn't '75 first year? and like you said an added disc.  Could be a later year Eldo front end with added disc but not '72 oem.

'74 was the first year with a disc brake, yes it's a '74 front end on a '72. I think you mean "o.e." (original equipment) vs. "o.e.m." (original equipment manufacturer).

I've an Eldo owning friend in Asheville.  He says stay away. Stay far away. Most of the problems are electrical including -/+ mis-connected at battery. The cross shaft bushing on the shift linkage is so loose you cannot find any gear. A low value parts bike in his view.  Local mechanic will not touch it.  R3~

If this is the same eldo owner I am thinking of... he is most deff not full of shit.

Please tell us who is a competent mechanic to work on Guzzi in Asheville? 
There are three I know of:

one is awesome mostly does Brit bikes but knows ducs and some guzzi stuff.. good work fair prices, and clear communication (Jake Hall at Hall's Custom Vintage)

one seems flaky and picky about what work he will take (has a euro car biz on the side)

the third used to work at a former guzzi dealership that has since gone under (even after they dropped guzzi) and he now wrenches on BMW (I had a terrible experience with him and his service dept)

Using that logic, if I sell "Barney" again, I'll have to tell anyone interested that it has a '70 engine and transmission in a '71 frame, with '73 tank and front fender, '74 rear fender and a bunch of bits and pieces of unknown age.  Some poor sucker might think it was all from the same year. 

The previous owner knew all of that since he had read "The Barney Blog".

One call to Greg Bender and around $300 later all your wiring problems are a thing of the past. A 42+ year old bike would certainly benefit from a new harness/sub harness. I know mine did

No matter if you put a GSXR motor in the frame and converted it to belt drive it'd still be a 1972 Moto Guzzi Eldorado. No where did the seller post the bike was 100% original and quite honestly would believe that that statement on a 42  year old motorcycle?

Depends on how you sell the bike.  Like you said "The Barney Blog" spells it out.  Any buyer should be asking about the particulars of vehicle in general.  To accept what the seller is putting 100% is foolish.  Caveat emptor.

Thing is - I doubt anyone buying a '72 Eldorado is going to be unhappy when they find out it should have had a drum-brake front end instead of a dual-disc front end. More likely, they'll be dancing with joy...

True.  Then you have idiots like me that want original for vintage and classic looks/value although I like what Greg Fields did with his Eldo.  Essentially what the factory has finally done with their current Eldo.  His has a V11 LM front-end and upgraded shocks.  He also made his wheels tubeless.

Forgot to add that the drum brakes on a Loop have to be ridden to understand the gearbox w/heavy flywheel engine braking style of riding.
