The police style leans over farther than the sport style. But there is a nut and post and a 'sloppy' locking arrangement. I mean sloppy because it's very loose tolerance, but it's also very solid.
Examine the post and tab business at the top of the pivot point. See if anything looks visibly worn. Look at the tab to see if it's bent or badly notched. If all of that seems on the oky-doky and you're still not happy with the lean angle, you can either add a 'shoe' to the bottom of the foot (recommended) or have the stand bent to an angle that gives you better lean without also slapping the muffler when it's retracted.
