Corbins are not made to be soft...........they are made to spread your body weight over a larger area, thereby giving you comfort. They use different foam than most other seat makers. It's actually sprayed on the base and then the artisan shapes it for your butt. It lasts a LOT longer than conventional foam others use. I've watched it done and if you get a custom seat you will too.
Artisan shapes for you butt?
I dunno about you, but the only time I had them make me a custom seat, no one took prints of my butt?
It was my understanding then (and tell me if something has changed) that the closed cell foam they use slowly breaks into the exact shape of your butt so that there will be no high-pressure spots. I.E. (like you're saying) that is ideally spreads out the load so to speak. And yes, I believe that's very different from what most other MC seat makers used. I do have fond memories of that seat, which I put about 65k miles on in the few short years I had it.
The Buell I sold last year came with a used Corbin and it fit well enough considering it wasn't initially broken in to my butt, but it was never as comfortable. I do wonder if the closed cell foam does adjust as well on a used seat or if it's a one time thing (once the butt imprint is made it's permanent)?
