The early rider gets the early deer- almost
« on: June 24, 2015, 10:59:05 AM »
Heading toward Tillamook from Portland in the earlier hours I had the road nearly to myself except for someone behind me thinking that the way to beat traffic was tail a Norge. Maybe they had just not seen one as I have yet to see another.

On a downgrade I saw a fuzzy object flash across the road ahead if me. The road was in this light and shadow thing because if the heavy tree canopy. I immediately grabbed the binders smooth but hard and just about 25 yards ahead to the right was what looked like a yearling doing the back and forth dance. I'll check the camera footage, I think the wide angle Innov lens captured it.

The most scary part though was the sled behind me blaring the horn because I hit the brakes. I pulled over to let them clear the way.

The ABS on the 8V Norge does in fact, work.

Highway 26 probably,  deer all around in those woods until hunting season.

Oregon sled drivers: They are horrible...

Glad you were able to avoid hitting Bambi. That would have been bad.

Glad that you avoided the deer. I have a friend who hit one at 35MPH and ended up in the hospital for 6 months. He would have died if a cop hadn't been working a speed trap nearby and noticed that his lights had disappeared.

My rule with deer is that if you think you see one, there are at least two more about to follow it across the road, or it is coming back to join its friends. I always come down to a crawl. Good work stopping yourself.
