Handlebar Clamps (G5, T3. Convert, Etc)
« on: June 29, 2015, 04:35:57 PM »
Are there upgrades to the factory clamps that came on the G5. Convert, T3's etc. Something a little beefier?

This is the part (x2)

Thanks!

Just wondering if something like this would fit. It's from the Mille GT:

That part has a couple holes in the front for attaching the dash.

I didn't know that, but I can see that now looking at some Mille photos. Do you happen to know of the bolt pattern matches? I may not replace mine, I'm just wondering at this point. It would make me feel a little better having a solid clamp verses the two smaller ones I think.

Even with the plate you still have two lower clamp halves on the tree.  There is no structural advantage to the plate concept on the old tonti clamps.

Is there something wrong with the ones you have or are you just looking for something to do?

Should not be of an advantage at all. Looking at the underside of that clamp, other than the two bosses the material is about 1/8" thick. I can measure the spacing on my Cali. If I remember to.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll just be leaving mine as-is. I was just wondering what was available if anything. I just had these in my hands recently when I painted them and they just seemed light in my hands so started thinking.

Thanks again.

If those clamps worry you do NOT look what is under the triple tree :D  They are relatively thin castings.

But,they also go many, many miles without incident.  I just put 2 1/2" risers on mine.  Just make sure you don't torque the bolts too tight :D
