Clutch lever/cable "upgrade"
« on: July 06, 2015, 09:00:10 PM »
Hi all,

I'm thinking of fitting a late model master cylinder to my 77LeMans & matching the clutch lever.

I'm guessing any 5-speed Guzzi clutch will be fine as long as I order the correct cable so wondering if anyone knew of a late cable clutch that has a Ducati cross reference to make my search a bit easier.

Obviously this isn't a necessary change, just an asthetics issue. At the moment this bike doesn't have matching clutch/brake assemblies.

Thanks

Does your clutch cable have the cut out switch? if so I found replacements through HMB in Germany, it its the clutch cable without the electrical switch then MG Cycle has them.

I used all MG Cycle stuff when I converted the T5.  Switch gear, clutch lever assy, brake lever, etc.  Got a used M/C.

Clutch cable ends for the 5sp are not all the same (learned the hard way).  There are also 'long' and 'short' cables (big Cali style bars vs LeMans style bars).  Measure yours (diameters and length) and find the one that fits.

I went down that route with my LM2.
Also fitted a Venhill low friction cable (PTFE inner liner).

I used the LM1000  dogleg clutch lever . Can be had inexpensively from Stein Dinse. It also comes with a choke lever mounted on the perch( removable) and a slip on cable end . If you are handy making/ modifying your cables , you can end with the later LM system including a comfy  choke lever on the perch. You will need a splitter for the  choke. I used the same set-up on my 750S tribute bike and am doing the same on the LM1. I also highly recommend the Thomaselli throttle.  It is so much smoother than my original one.  Also does not need a regrip to go from zero throttle to full throttle :)  And, the throttle stops mean less stress on the throttle cables.
