I owned a 1000DS and I've driven the 620. Spend a little more and get the 1000; 620 and 1000 are so close in weight and feel as to be almost the same except the motor, IMHO. If I had to do it over, I'd even go for the S version with the Ohlins forks. To me personally, that 1000DS is nothing like the Norge even remotely. The Norge is a true touring machine you can drive around town; the DS is actually more like a supermoto with a half fairing. You can pitch it, toss it, whateverr; it's pretty willing in the twisties. I don't even know if I'd call the DS a sport tourer even; it's way more sporty than touring. Unless you get the FI modified with a fat duc or if it's been tuned for Termis, or some other means, it's a miserable bike to ride slower than 40mph, herky jerky to the nth degree. I really liked mine and it grew on me but honestly, I only kept the thing about 2 months before selling; I more greatly enjoyed the GT1000 I owned and drove for about 23k miles. That bike had Termis and tuned to them so the FI was smoothed out almost as good as the Geese I've owned. Eventually sold the GT to get back on a Guzzi and never regretted one second of it, but that's just me.
