I've had a couple of pieces of the plastichrome on my Bassa volunteer to leave.

Right shock cover BASE jumped while in motion, then went under a car. Rear and front fenders coming loose.

Is there anybody out there who'd like me to take the rest of it off politely, or can I go ahead and do it quick and dirty?

The plan is to clean up those zones and pinstripe tape over the hole sets for now - if I get ambitious maybe I'll add acorn hardware or LEDs some day.

I let mine fall off on their own.  I thought about LEDs but I'm going towards a smaller front fender.

If you have the inserts on the fenders you'll have a nice pattern of about 40 holes when you're done.  I'm no fan of those little fender sickles, but the look with them missing is hideous unless you can fill and smooth the holes.  I'd pop them off and reattach them with glue.

The rest of it -- a hammer is fine.  Nobody wants the stuff.

That's what I was hoping - I just wanted to give anybody coveting the stuff one last chance to speak up before I hacked it off.

I'll run pin stripe tape over the hole initially, then fasteners through them eventually.

Or perhaps a custom bracket with only a few fasteners, but now we're talking about real effort. I don't even run my still as often as I should, much less fabricate parts from scratch.

Since I have no idea how easy those parts are to obtain, (and I am thinking replacement as opposed to you removing the rest of it), there is another way to be proactive. I had a piece come completely loose on the front fender of the EV. As RK said, there are MANY small holes left behind. Thankfully, the one that came loose was trapped by the brake line guide. I purchased a small roll of automotive trim tape and re-attached the offending piece. It has worked out so well that I may remove the other 3 pieces and do the same.

Anyway, just a thought. Cheers.

I've found that those trim bits part with a sprung/bent fender quite easily.

That's sad - I'll take mine off the hard way and maybe I'll be less likely to bend one then

I glued mine back on.  It was better than looking at the holes.

You're starting to make buying a box of acorn hardware sound pretty good.

Do they make multi-color LEDs ?

I could run them in the cool illegal colors when safe to do so, then switch them to the boring colors when adviseable.

A box of #10 screws and acorn nuts would probably do the job.

Or on the LED theme -- get rgb LEDS and you can make a rolling message board.

Sure. Just about all emblems on cars are attached with automotive trim tape. It is a very thin foam tape available in various widths. I bought a small roll for 7 bucks at the local auto parts store. Make sure both surfaces are clean. Wash first, then I wipe it down with rubbing alcohol. Place the tape in the item, trim the excess that may be sticking out, peel off the backing, and stick on. Make sure you get it in the proper location the first time. You will not get a second chance. I prefer 3M brand myself. For removal after, you would need dental floss or similar to get the trim back off. When I did the boomerang on the fender, I placed the tape in a few spots rather than cover every contacting surface. I would also mention that although it is a foam tape, it is very thin and virtually invisible once the job is done.

No more pesky little nubs to be taken off by rocks and such from the inside.
