Norge 8v CalSci screen
« on: July 27, 2015, 12:54:55 AM »
Hello all,  Iam  considering a Calsci medium screen to replace original one. Trying to reduce buffeting at the helmet  and for a quieter ride. Mark assured me this one will do the trick. Has anyone tried this screen and if so their opinions?   Thanks ian

I have the Calsci mid size screen for my 2v 2008 Norge and am very happy with it. Then again, I have several screens and switch according to the season and purpose (i.e., long rides, summer in the city, etc.).

I also had a screen from Calsci for a V-Strom 1000 I used to own (wretch - it died after just 140,000 miles!). I would buy from Mark again.

I have the medium screen and I consider it a big improvement over the old screen. Looks good too.

Another option would be the Agostini touring windscreen. It looks just like the stock screen, only it is taller and wider--and it works, at least for me.

Also consider your goal. If buffeting is the problem, going shorter rather than taller might work better. Get your helmet into clean air and as a benefit you avoid the looking through a car windshield effect. The conventional wisdom from decades ago is that you shouldn't look through a motorcycle windscreen but rather over the top of it.

Don't hear too many riders with shorter windscreens or none at all complaining about buffeting.

I cut down the original windscreen until my head was in clean air.  It's a little cooler and buggier ride, but I like it.

Can you put up a side view? I'm in the process of cutting mine down just a bit. The way I look at it, if you look through a windscreen and bugs hit it, you still look at bugs. At least on the face shield you can do something about it.

From top to bottom it's just shy of 15 inches.  For me, it sort of transformed the bike a bit, in a very good way.

You weren't kidding about the bugs. Nice height on that windscreen and it looks really good. I'll start a little taller at first, easier to cut down than build up. Maybe start an inch lower and work in increments.
