I've been getting my newly acquired Convert road worthy and have installed a new Yuasa YTX16 battery, diode board, rotor and regulator. Before installing the new parts it would charge at just barely 13V. With the new parts it charged at 14.2. Note, I said "charged". The system lasted about 2 minutes before it quit charging all together. The culprit seems to be the terminal that sends power to the regulator. I disconnected the red wire from the diode board and, with a clip lead, applied battery voltage and it's back to 14.2V. I called the person from whom I bought the parts but got voice mail and haven't heard back yet. My question is: seeing as how the fuse panel is right next to the diode board is it reasonable to just plug the red wire into a switched 12V terminal on the fuse panel and call it fixed?
