Labor Day Springfield Mile
« on: August 25, 2015, 04:21:59 PM »
Several of us are intending to go.  But we haven't organized any plan of attack.  I think some of us might ride and carpool along the way.  I found a cheapo roach motel downtown for Saturday night but haven't booked it.

Beer, cigars, racing (Sat night and Sunday afternoon), cussing, lies, the human condition

oh, I need to get motivated

So dude, are you gonna get jiggy on making the hotel reservations or do I need to? You haven't told me where this is, is it a secret? Is there indoor plumbing? Is it Abe Lincoln's old cabin? Are the roaches clean and shaven?

I thought I already PM'd you a link for the motel.

I'd make some reservations if we could get a head count.

Likely, I'll be in the pits with the LBM (Ducati) team.  Incidentally, Troy Bayliss is planning on being there--I certainly wouldn't count on him riding, but he's a fair bit more competitive than your normal person, so who knows?  If he can ride at all, he'll be out there.  Meanwhile, Johnny Lewis has been looking really good, so expect good things from #10.  I'll also be at Charlotte, NC this weekend--that's a big round track that ought to be interesting.

Troy busted an ankle trying to make the main at Sacramento on the Duc.  It shows even a world champ can't jump into a mile and make it the first time.  He's a tough dude and I hope he gives it a shot.

It might be cool if the Guzzi contingent might get a glimpse of the going-ons there Deek.  <hint-hint>

I have already made reservations at the Sleep Inn on Freedom Drive.
I do want to meet up with the Guzzi folks that are going to be there.

I'll be at the Mile and at the Short Track on Saturday night. I have a seat for the Mile in section NN row 1. I tend to be a Rail bird. The seating for the Short Track is open, so I'll probably be seated in the first row there as well. I think I'll be camping at the campground in the Fairgrounds. At least, that's my plan right now.

We'll make sure @ least one of us will be in a Guzzi T-shirt Crust-ola. We'll be @ the short track too.

I'm thinking we should slab it through St Louis and have lunch on The Hill.   :food:

Ragazzi's? or Charlie Gitto's?

What should I cook on the egg this year? Salmonella & Tri-tip again? Baby Backs? Pork Butt with horseradish and sauerkraut?

nope.

I'd love Spaghetti Carbonara ... not sure I could still ride a 100 miles.
