A couple of 95 Carby Cali questions
« on: September 12, 2015, 01:51:29 PM »
Hi
I'm fettling the bike ready for a ride to the Somme Battlefields in a while and need some guidance to fix some niggles

1)
Bike appears to be running slightly rich on one side and I think I need to change the float needle valve and seat. Delorto UK offer a range of sizes. Can somebody confirm a 300 (whatever the units are) is the size on the PHF36s?

2)
The oil seal on the output side of the gear box was leaking in to the bevel box so I changed it. Bad news is it still is
I'm sure I didn't screw up the fitting of the new seal so could somebody please advise why its still passes oil.
1st thoughts are breather not breathing  :undecided: :undecided:

Cheers

Stein Dinse lists a 250 for the Cal III carb. 250 means a 2.5 mm opening where the needle seats.

I'd check the choke valve first - make sure there's enough freeplay in the cables and that the rubber disc on the tip hasn't deteriorated.

My '95 Carbali doesn't leak at the rear but my '95 Spot did and after a couple seals I finally stopped it by not seating the seal at the standard depth where there was (happened to be?) a groove altering the seals effectiveness.

Cheers both - that gives me something to look at

Choke valve was the first thing I checked and it looks fine.

I got  the 300 from the parts list for my bike - at least I can be sure what it means now
