I took a day ride to Zanesville Ohio ......
« on: September 05, 2015, 07:32:56 PM »
....... and wish I'd packed some stuff so I could have stayed over!

The annual "Plain and Casual" rally was a really nice affair.  I rode the 24 year old R100GS, though she still has some vibes at 4000rpm that I find distracting.  The old gal turned 145,000 miles on the trip back home.  The weather report threatened afternoon thunderstorms, but the round trip of slightly over 300 miles couldn't have been more pleasant.

The ride down took me over roads I've ridden for several years.  I opted to take US 21 to SR 585 into Wooster, Ohio, then pick up SR83 into Millersburg.  Stopped at a very neat little restaurant for a late breakfast, and was pleasantly surprised to find deep fried corn mush pattys on the menu.  They provided maple syrup as a topping, but I think it's great with nothing but salt and pepper.  Not health food, for sure, but ................... ... yum!  Then I was off to one of my favorite short stretches of two lane after a short leg on US62.  The 10 mile or so stretch of SR60 between Millersburg and Warsaw, Ohio is one of those things that makes me stay in love with riding Ohio.  It has some surprising turns, elevation changes, and unusual scenery ..... I love riding the stretch alongside the wetlands.

When I arrived I found the campground perfectly suited for the number of attendees, and the Blakes and Anks (and Leroy and others)  had everything running smoothly.  I suspect Zoom Zoom was involved, too.  These folks know how to pick a rally site!

Anyway, I think for once, a group of Guzzi riders may have held a rally when the weather is as good as it gets in Ohio.

Wish I was there instead of back home pounding the keyboard on this old Dell!  But that's hindsight.

There's always next year.  Best wishes to all of the rally attendees for a wonderful Saturday night.  You made my day ..... maybe my entire riding season!

Bob

Yes The Ohio Plain and Casual Rally is the Best Guzzi Rally in Ohio.   the 90 degree weather was cooled by the shade of the campground and the breeze that was blowing, or a Nice dip in the swimming pool.

You missed a FANTASTIC time if you did not attend. Put it on your Callender for next Labor Day
