Dark Side tire for a Hack...?

Do any of you Hack Pilots have any experience with a 17" car tire on the rear of a Hack...?   The application only makes sense in that the thing never leans and I would like to try one on the EV Hack.

I will do some sizing research but the biggest question is clearance in the EV swing arm due to the width of the tire...

Any recommendations are appreciated.

I met the Thibideaus at the National and saw a car tire on the back of his 1400 California. Not a hack. I've been trying to get my friend with a 1400 to try it, he complains about short tire life-though he took my other advice and got a Marathon.

Wouldn't it just be a matter of measuring tires at the local tire store? My EV would accept  a 150.

My wife and I owned seven sidecar rigs over a 35 year period.  Three of them were EML rigs that come with specific wheels as part of the kit and they use car tires (on the front and rear).  The fronts all had leading link front ends.  On each of the other rigs that we owned, I decided to try automobile tires on the rear due to the extreme wear that we were experiencing with motorcycle tires.  Collectively, we put over 250k miles the four rigs that weren't EML's and never had a problem with the automobile tires on the rear.  I've even seen people use an auto tire on the rear of their solo bikes and claim that they had no problems but I've never tried it.  You won't have any problem with a car tire on the rear of your hack and the useful life of the rear tire will go way up.  (a minimum of 3X what you'll get from a bike tire on the rear)

There would be no problem running the car tire on the rear of the hack.  I do think you might have a problem finding one in a size that will work on your bike.

Yeah, you're right, it may not qualify as the Dark Side on a Hack...  and I have been using a Marathon.

Better wear than the average tire but still not what I would think a car tire would do...  So, yes I have some measrements to go check out...

So far the only car tire I have located that will fit my EV rim is a donut spare type and I would think that would be useless!  Thinking about a Shinko as they are cheaper but not sure if they will last as long as some of the others.

I run the above in a 175/55 x 17 on mt Stelvio, purchased through Tire Easy.

Cheap and should last forever.  Don't know what size you are limited to.

That's a good link right there.  I did not come across this when I was looking for flat-profile tires for my trike.  Before I could get that far I got run off the darksider forum I was frequenting on account of they didn't approve of my project.

Do you mean for the Hack or for drw916's Stelvio...?
