« on: September 11, 2015, 09:16:49 AM »
Got this in an email this morn:

http://info.ims.com/webmail/15942/754114867/bc065baebf05fd8abe71627083205429

My son and I made it a point to go every year and was something to look forward to. Oh well, I guess there is COTA.

The press release indicates that it's a catch-22: MotoGP didn't want the hassle of dealing with only one North American race, but how can Americans get excited about MotoGP--and increase the number of races--if there aren't any North American races?

Yeah, Bruce we heard this might happen when we were up there. Not enough $$$ for Indy.

Rossi was openly critical of the track design this year too.  Not really comparable to other courses on the calendar.

Miller Motorsports Park is not closing.  A Chinese consortium bought the place for a paltry $20M.  The deal is not final yet as there are some lawsuits filed by the losing bidders.

MotoGP still races in Texas.

I attended every Indy MotoGP, as a spectator the first and last years, and as a credentialed photographer every year in between.  It had a nice run, but I can't say I'm too bummed it's gone.  I certainly won't miss Indiana's roads . . .

I always hear complaints of no banked turns to speak of at Indy. Losing Laguna is the real shocker though. So thankful for COTA, hope to attend one there in my future.
