Feedback wanted on V7 Accessories (garagemotoguzzi.com)

Hi. Getting close to ordering a new V7 II (abs) and considering to get some of the “official” accessories in the www.garagemotoguzzi .com catalog - but wanted to know hear first from others with experience.

Has anyone here fitted any of the following?

I don't mess with small blocks.

That said, a good rule of thumb is to find out where it's broken before fixing it.  If you like the bike, buy it and ride it.  If anything needs changing it will let you know.

I don't, either, but plan to add one to the harem as soon as po$$ible ... with that not, sadly, anytime soon: think "rollerization" for the Griso and new brake rotors, etc., for Norge in queue first.   

So I am always interested in what folks do to theirs.  Certainly imagine that I'll need a suspension upgrade of some kind.  And, the whole "scrambler" thing had me snoring until recently, when some photo made me think of days of yore and some future modest unpaved jewels near us.

This is the pic that woke me up.  Has me pondering a Quota fork conversion and a long set of shocks for a V7 Scrambler.....

I ripped the stock shocks off before I even got the bike!  Not fit for use IMO.  That's me, but stock would throw me out of the seat 10 times in 10 miles.  Ohlins fixed that.

I rebuilt my seat to make it useable and added 1 1/2 inch to the height-again that's what I needed.

The rest of the machine is great-and now the entire experience is just what I wanted.  I knew going in what I was in for-no complaints.

What I didn't like about my stock V7special: pretty much everything but the torque curve.
What I've done to alter that ambivalence: pretty much everything but the rebuilding the motor.
I'll guess at pricing: suspension front and rear~1500, fairing~500, handle bars~300, rearsets~600, silencers~900, seat ~200, mirrors~100, signals~50, panniers~800, miscellaneous pieces~200.. all premium parts.
Upcoming:  paint  ~ 1000, upgrade front brakes 1000... then I'm about done.
For the money I've spent, I could have purchased double the horsepower (or more that I don't need) or bought a reasonable second bike to restore ~ using skills that I don't presently possess.
The bike sings to me every time I light it up.

I'm already sold on getting V7. My wife had a 2009 V7 Classic - which I rode every once in while and enjoyed. Not concerned about power - it has plenty for the mountainous area we live in - in fact I suspect it will be better suited that my current 2008 Griso 8v - which I plan to sell.  I didn't find the suspension on the V7c to be a problem, but since so many others do cite it as their highest priority for a mod, I thought I'd look into it as I prepare to buy myself a V7.

While I don't plan to ride on many unpaved roads, the Scrambler look does appeal to me and so I've been looking at The Moto Guzzi Garage site http://www.garagemotoguzzi.com/en/stile/scrambler/  The 2 in 1 high exhaust and performance rear springs... and was hoping someone had already tried these. Too new?

Any feedback on the "garage" parts - especially exhaust and suspension appreciated.

Other specific recommendations for exhaust options and suspension improvements for a brand new v7 ll (abs) welcome!

You're probably right, the stuff Guzzi offers direct is a new concept for us.  We're used to little or no aftermarket offered by Guzzi.  I've been using AF1 and MG Cycle for my V7 Special's parts.  Todd at GuzziTech has some nice quality offerings as well.

Having modded the rear of every bike I've owned I'd suggest that if you are replacing the rear spring go with a knowledgeable tuner who understands spring rates and such.

I have no good experience with the "upgraded" OEM stuff from anybody unless it's factory Ohlins.

Good luck on your mods. I think this stuff is "too new" at the moment, you may be our guinea pig. If I were you I'd ask for more information about the shocks, how are they different than stock? What is rider weight the spring rated for? I'm 135lbs in gear so I needed to make a change. I put new springs (RaceTech) in my Racer front and rear and it transformed the handling of the bike. So much more confidence in corners now. As others mentioned check out Guzzi Tech for alot of other options in the suspension department.

My dealer here in Japan has 2015 (non-abs model) with the 2 into 1 Arrow exhaust installed,,, so I'll be to hear how that sounds this weekend. I asked for an explanation about the rear shocks - and will get that info soon. I might be the guinea pig.

Meanwhile having fun playing around with the customization simulation software on the website. Here's two possible directions for me. First is a Scrambler the second is a Legend.
