I believe several people have.  I installed one in my T3 as part of an overall refurb a few years back.  Can't say I've seen any negative results from it.  Seems to keep the electrons flowing well and charges at a lower RPM than the stocker.  Also does away with the diode board (good thing).

Best,

i believe the 32 amp upgrade does away with the diode board. The 28 amp upgrade replaces the stock diode board with eme s board.

Yes, I installed the 32 amp alternator upgrade on my SP-NT.

Made SURE to use the hardened rotor removal tool that they included in the kit.    It also had some very nice connectors for the new wiring.   Didn't take much time to install and works great ....

I installed their 450 Watt 32 amp kit on my SPII a few years ago. pricey, but money well spent. Pretty easy installation. I can run my electric underpants now when it gets nippy!

I put the 450W on my T5 a couple months ago.  One of the better things I've done to the bike.

The electrical output increase is great, but, the other good part is the permanent magnet rotor.  No more brushes, no wires on the rotor to get messed up.  Solid state rectifier and regulator.  And all new wires.

And they are great on service.  Answer questions quickly and ship fast.

Oops . . . it was the 32A upgrade I installed.  At the time of my upgrade, I don't think there was another upgrade.  Anyway, it has been a good thing.

I installed the 28 amp on a BMW earlier this year, but haven't done one on a Guzzi.

Thanks for the replies. I have been trying to get the 28 amp upgrade installed and cannot get a charge from the system. EME says it's installed correctly and do not have a answer. I'm thinking that this upgrade works on the BMW but will not work as sold for the Guzzi.

Mine worked as it came out of the box and instructions were really good for it being made mainly for boxers.  The key for me was finding a good reference voltage.

There's no reason for it not to work.
Which Guzzi do you have it on?
Check you are getting AC Voltage across the two yellow wires I'm guessing about 60 Volts AC at fast idle
The red wire is connected to the battery, if you unplug the regulator the red wire from the loom should be +12V
You must have a good ground on the regulator case, the charging current flows back thru the chassis.
Check the Black wire has 12 Volts on it when you turn the key On (this powers up the regulator, sometimes this relies on the headlight being on)

Just confirming that the OP is talking about the the 28 amp version and it is a direct replacement for the BOSCH stator, rotor, diode board, and voltage regulator (i.e. 4 components).

From previous experience when installing this system on a BMW - be sure that the stator windings are not grounding or shorting to the engine case....the EME stator is a tighter fit than the stock component.  On mine, I could see where the insulation had been rubbed off of part of the winding.   Check the condition of the insulation on the windings to look for a rubbed spot.  Check for continuity between the engine case (timing cover) and the windings when it is installed....you do not want continuity here.  EME sent me a new stator and it fit fine.  Such a short is probably more likely on a BMW than on a Guzzi because of the difference in mounting and what is covering the alternator, but worth a check.

Is the charge indicator light functional?  This system relies on drawing its initial current through the charge indicator bulb.  If the bulb is blown, then no charging.

The charge indicator light is working and the bike is an 89 Lemans. The mechanic installing this system talked to EME in detail to verify it was installed correctly. They even sent another diode board thinking the board was faulty.  He could have made it work by sending power to the brushes independently but didn't want to without EME ok. I am electrically challenged and would not tackle it myself and got frustrated with the amount of time this 28 amp system was taking so I ordered the 450 watt system and got a RMA to return the 400 watt system.
Thanks for everyone's advise. I believe the 450 watt system is more straightforward install as others have installed it with great success.
