As you may know the Cali 1400 headers are double skinned. The inner pipe on the left header on my bike broke in various places. Anyway the new header arrived and it is interesting to note that there are now vent holes in the outside pipe, two at the top near the exhaust port and one underneath close to the end of the double skinned section. The holes are 16mm diameter.
A new cali on the dealer floor has the "vented" headers so this must have been a running change recently. I bought mine in Feb 2013 and the failure occurred at 38k km.
No idea if this is to cool the chrome to prevent bluing or to actually cool the inner pipe. Regardless of the reason, I drilled matching holes in the other header. Seemed like a good idea.
