Jackal fuel pump won't run after filter change
« on: October 14, 2015, 08:09:13 AM »
I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the K&N air filter on my 2000 Jackal, and after reassembly, the fuel pump is not turning on when I turn on the ignition. The furthest right mini-relay clicks twice (on & off?) but no fuel pump action. I checked basic stuff: fuel filter in correction direction, the kill switch was on, no blown fuses and everything else electrical appears to work: starter motor, lights, horn etc. Thought maybe I'd switched the fuel tank solenoid and fuel level sensor wires when I reinstalled the tank, but I could hear fuel draining to the filter when the switch was first turned on. Any suggestions on what to check next or what I may have done to disable the fuel pump?

The very first thing to check is power to the pump its self .

It's generally something simple.

The pump will still run. It'll burn out that expensive sensor, though..

Do you get the loud 'clunk' of the fuel solenoid?

I found the problem. The plug connection to the fuel pump was pulled loose. Thanks for the tips.

Always always always look at the simple solution first . A lesson learned growing up on English motorbikes . That connector is not very good , no positive lock . Glad you located the problem  :thumb:

Thanks for the update. Probably time for a small donation to WG..  Your call of course. Without WG, there's no way I could have kept many of my Guzzis going.  :thumb:
