It's time - at least to try. I never have liked them.

Is this a hair dryer task ? Am I dreaming...after 16 years are they there for good ?

Will fingernails do it ?

My low fuel light comes on, first time in two years. AFTER I fill the tank, and it only shows at low RPMs. Regardless of fuel level, it comes on like a charging light.

The engine still sounds clickety, loud upper end left side, but earplugs help, and if I go fast enough it sounds good - eighty is about right.

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

I had a set of covers repainted w/o the decals--looked like something was missing, but some different decals might work. I've gone thru 2 or 3 of those fuel level indicators.

Maybe I should find somebody to trade them to. They're in excellent condition, I just abhor the plastichrome and decal combo. Thinking about rattle canning the plastichrome and peeling the decals.

I rattle-canned the fake chrome flat or semi-flat black (this for a black bike). I also had the steering head covers powder-coated black, I removed the chrome frame covers, and I replaced the chrome dash panel with a black one. I think the bike looks much better that way. The decals may be under clear coat, not sure.

Aha ! I feel better already, thank you. I have a pearl white Bassa but I still think it would look better to do as you have. I guess I could go with high heat engine white on the fake chrome...or blue, perhaps.

After some gazing it's evident that black is the way to go.

And those decals are not coming off. Perhaps I should find another set of side covers lacking decals, or make my own ?

Pipes are getting aged, first time I need to pull them they'll get powdercoated. Can I have my local sheet metal shop throw them in with a batch of black, or is their "special" powder to use ?

the side cover decals are under a clear coat paint so you have to sand and repaint them.

for header pipes you need special process like ceramic coating. there might be a higher tech powder coating but the normal PC isn't recommended.

BTW, I bought a set of sidecovers from a CA Special (or maybe CA Special Sport) thinking they'd fit the Bassa. They didn't. Different pins.

Here's what happened when I went to remove the decals from my spare V7 fuel tank. They came right off with a heat gun, and took the paint with them. The decals were under clear coat.

You may want to try plastidip spray on the side covers.
