Cali III Ural chair project

Guzzi Cali III project Pics;

Here it is on a pallet as delivered by Crawford Sales. Came off a "99 Ural BC. No spare or interior/tonneau, but otherwise complete.

Here is almost a rolling chassis. I bought cast steel lower ball mounts from sidecarpro.com. They were good enough quality. Decent cast steel with some surface rust from storage. Welded them to a 3' length of steel pipe on outriggers from the Guzzi's lower frame rail.

Welded a 1/2" tab to the bikes frame above the rear shock mount for one rear strut to attach to. Still need to make a tab to weld to the front down tube for the forward strut.

Here's the rolling chassis. 3 out of 4 mounts tacked in place. Still need to do the forward strut and make a brace underneath to triangulate the pipe carrying the rear lower mount. Then align it all and bolt it up tight.

yeah, I might be addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop any time I want.

Thanks Lannis. I think this one will be my swan song in custom bike fabbing.

Paint to match?
From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉 Hawaii.

Now THAT would be nice.   That OEM Maroon with Gold Pinstripes on the Cal III is hard to beat.

Actually I plan to repaint everything in a art deco style pastel green with gold striping. Going for a classic 30's look on it. Tan sidecar interior and tan upholstery, SS luggage rack on trunk and a tan canvas tonneau with leather fittings.

Can't wait to see what a "Swan Song" actually looks like, then.   Going to be a busy winter ....  :thumb:
