Situation: I have a copy of VDSTS I have used in the past only to reset the TPS after balancing TBs. Recently, I noticed my 1200 Sport 2v wanted to hang at high idle (1500-1600rpm), but only when the outside air temp was in the mid to high 40s (F). Once into the 50s, idle went back to normal, with no further issues. I'm thinking the ECU may be receiving an incorrect reading from either the air temp sensor or engine temp sensor, causing it to idle higher than normal (assuming that is how the map is set up)
Question: Assuming the bike had been sitting in a cold garage overnight and not been started, would/should the garage air temperature be the same or very close to that shown on the VDSTS gauges screen for engine temperature? And if the two temperatures are quite a bit apart, would this indicate that the engine temperature sensor (or perhaps the air temp sensor in the airbox) is defective and should be replaced?
