anyone have a Marelli ignition key in their spares box from a broke switch with a number # E55
and what are the best options for missing keys for the tool boxes?? When you have perfectly good locks.?

I asked a locksmith friend, he advised me to just buy a new ignition switch from MG Cycle and he made me a pair of keys for the toolboxes, I'm not sure how he did it without a pattern but he said it was no problem.
I haven't tried it in the steering lock.

This is the switch I bought, I use the key start, the original start button I am using for the horn.

 :1: I use Keys4Classics all of the time and they never miss - every key works perfectly.

If you want to retain the original toolbox locks, drive the hinge pin out and take the whole thing to a good locksmith. Or if you can get the tiny screw out, remove the lock from the lid and take him just the lock. Two of the most readily available blanks are the Ilco SR61N and Taylor B69K. If the locksmith doesn't have either, they can cross-reference the number to something else. You can also buy the blanks online of course.

The advantage to keeping the original locks and having keys made for them is that the same key should work in the fork lock as well, unless one or the other has been changed.

I took a picture of my Eldorado keys and emailed it to Keys4Classics.  They made two sets and they work perfect.  The original keys where worn and one was starting to crack.  They do good work highly recommend them.

A lot of Italian ignition keys are made by Zadi.  I got a Guzzi key w/a Taylor blank(F79-1) made for my `81 big block.

I had forgotten about the key4classics shop. A few years ago I used some file cabinet cam locks I bought at Ace hardware that work Ok. But now I have good original tool box  locks but no keys. And I hate to pitch a good ignition switch if I don't have to.
