Shipping motorcycle advise
« on: December 09, 2015, 12:44:56 PM »
Hi all,

I'm working with a seller located near LA on a possible purchase. Would need to ship bike to Indiana.  Need advise on suggested motorcycle carriers/shippers that can be trusted.

Thanks!

Have heard of both good and bad experiences with U-Ship. Just pay attention to their customer feedbacks, and read them thoroughly. I used them a couple of times and am using them right now. My Cali 1400 is leaving California today and coming to New Jersey. I've also had a good experience a couple years ago with Keyboard Motorcycle Shippers.

If you want, contact my shipper directly at semperfihaulers@gmail.com and tell him the NJ Guzzi guy George sent you.

I heard Haulbikes is running a special right now, $450 from anywhere in the lower 48 to anywhere in the 48...

Haulbikes is moving a lot of bikes to Vegas for the Mecum auction in early January. The Sport I just finished is getting picked up Friday, only 4 days after the buyer signed the contract.

uship.com

Put the job up for bid...and vett the bidders by reviewing their feedback. Had great luck getting the V11 from Costa Mesa CA to Missouri.

I used Haul Bikes (haulbikes.com) this year on a bike I acquired and a buyer used them last year on a bike bought from me. Both instances were outstanding, professional and decent value (not cheap). The only downside, and It was not a negative factor for me, is that the process can take a couple of weeks since they consolidate shipments for their own efficiency. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I also used uShip (uship.com) several years ago with very satisfactory results. The thing to realize about uShip is that the web site really just acts as a brokering site for buyers and shippers to meet and come to terms. As mentioned above, you need to carefully evaluate the ratings and customer satisfaction for each shipper who bids on your job. Choose carefully. I would use the service again with the caveats mentioned.

I've used Forward Air at LAX with good success.
They have containers for mototcycles.
