::)No its not. An F08 uses 38mm pistons and a F09 uses 48. Hard to tell from a distance but the casting in the caliper for the piston is naturally bigger on the F09. Pads are different too.Rod in Oz.
So what you are saying is 38mm :+1 :+1 :+1 :+1 :+1 :+1 :+1 :+1 :+1 :+1 :+1F09's are a nice replacement for the 850T's front caliper if you want to retain the stock MC. If not the stock F08 and a not stock 10mm MC are what you need.

I have a G5 project with delinked brakes and therefore a 15mm front master cylinder for ideal operation of two F08 calipers up front. The stock 15mm rear master will be too big for good action on the stock rear F08 caliper. Theoretically an F09 will work well with the stock master as a 48mm caliper with a 15mm master is a good ratio. That is my plan, does it make sense? Does it require surgery to mount it?
F09's are not worth it as there is a limited selection of pad compounds. better to stick with the cheaper f08, and use a sticker pad. I'd also bet rebuild kits are NLA for F09's...That plus F09's hit the bolts that hold composite rotors together on and the buttons on certain floaters
I haven't looked for pads lately for my F09 but Moto International had "sticky" pads for he F09 when they carried the item years ago.
This seemed like a good place to drudge this up. I have Linked brakes, an F08 on the right and rear and an F09 on the Left front. I'm not sure how or why, thats just how I got the bike. For $200 you don't ask questions. Anyways, I want to actually drop the F09 down to an 8 so I'm matching. Any thoughts?
I believe that some early linked Tonti's used F09 on the rear. Anybody want to clarify that as I am not sure.
