Ambo Ride - NJ
« on: December 20, 2015, 03:34:39 PM »
Got out for a few hours today on the Ambo.  Sunny, blue skies and chilly.  I took to my favorite roads through the Pine Barrens, and found some new ones.  The cop bike ran like a top (thanks again Charlie!), and it felt great to be alive.

Yea, there ARE a couple curves in south Jersey...

Cool old abandon house on the Mullica River.  I does look haunted...

One of the many bridges over the Mullica...

I REALLY hope this mild weather holds.  I don't care if I ever see another snowflake...

Beautiful ride and bike....how does it compare to the Eldorados you've owned?

I don't really miss the 5th gear, and have really bonded with the 4-speed.  Ride and power feels similar.  I do have to do something to improve the front brake - long reach on the lever and it's got a gorilla pull.  My two prior Eldos had 4LS ('73) or a disk ('74).  Going to start with a new cable sans the brake light switch.  Still, have not met a loop I didn't love!

Glad you got out and that the Ambo ran well. I chose not to ride today for a variety of reasons, might ride some Christmas Day if the forecast holds.

I just had two sets of "test" brake shoes relined by a local company and hope that they will provide much improved braking. The rears are going on Joel Parks' Eldo and the fronts on my '69 Ambo. The Ferodo greens on that just don't compare with the ones on "Barney" from Mark E. Should have results by next weekend. If they work well, I'll be sending every core shoe I have to them and will be offering the reline shoes for sale.

We were fine last year until mid January.  Then all hell broke loose.

Hoping for a change this year!

Not "normal". Grass is still green and growing in places. Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining!

Yes they do Dougie!  Funny, I forget I'm on a full-blown Guzzi police bike with red spots, siren, etc.  Cagers slow down to a crawl in front of me, and amid my cursing I remember why!  Pretty sure I could be wearing a chicken suit and nothing would change.
