Looks like major Eldo surgery.
« on: December 26, 2015, 07:02:35 PM »
Went to take the youngest to wrestling practice today.  Spring broke on the trans. when shifting.  Limited to 1st, 2nd and neutral.  Had to limp home on the major artery home on the shoulder.

This is the Eldo Hack.  '75 with '68 chair.  Any advice?  Just refreshing the Loop part of the brain.

Last Loop I did was my Ambo.  I'd like to do this without having to take the chair off if possible but it looks like a complete pull apart.  I have a neighbor that I can enlist for a leftside engine pull.  He's a 6 footer and is a motorcycle rider/rebuilder.

We'll wait for Charlie, et al. to chime in.  But I think the shift return spring is bigger surgery on an Eldo than an Ambo?

4 speed would have been pretty easy but the 5 speed requires removing the cover plate at the rear of the trans.

I gotta pull out the reference manuals and start prepping the brain.
