NEW Guzi dealer!
« on: January 02, 2016, 05:53:16 PM »
Stopped in Freedom Euro Cycles (formally Freedom Cycles) in Reno, Nv. today. A really good enthusiast motorcycle dealer! Up to now they've had primarily Triumph but also Vespa & MV Augusta & possibly Motus. When several bikes in the lot were ridden in on a 22 degree day that says something about the dealer. I saw a red V7 on the floor.  Thinking it was a trade in I walked over & saw it was new. Anthony, a young enthusiastic salesman informed me they got 12 in on Thursday (12/31) (WHAT?) & were in the process of putting the rest together in the shop. T.W. took me back & a Griso, Stelvio & an Audace were about ready for the floor. They said it will take them a while to get up to Guzzi speed & don't have a Guzzi tech ready yet but I'm confident they'll do what it takes to get there albeit experience with the characteristics of older models will be a concern. I didn't ask about that today as they we're busy with their 1st Saturday of each month lunch they provide. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!

These guys have had Piaggio in the form of Piaggio and Vespa scooters for a long time. They have had a lot of time to think about taking on Moto Guzzi, but haven't made a move on it for at least a couple of decades. No mention of the change on their website, though.

Interestingly, the MG USA website shows the Las Vegas arm of the company as a dealer now, but not the Reno location...

Maybe they just bought the inventory of a dealership that closed?  It's fairly common in the industry.

If they have a red V7, it's fairly new. That color was not available till recent times. The rest of the inventory could have come from the warehouse or from the recently departed dealers, though I have it on good authority that it took many, many months for Piaggio USA to pick up the stock from Ride Now after they abandoned the brand.
